At the meeting of the Standing Committee on Budget of the State Great Khural, the report on the implementation of the Government Debt Management Strategy for 2023–2025, as submitted by the Government, was discussed. During the discussion, Members of State Great Khural raised questions related to the audit conducted by the Mongolian National Audit Office on the implementation of the strategy. These questions were addressed by Mr. Magnaisuren.S , the Auditor General of Mongolia, along with other relevant officials. The share of the Government’s nominal debt to GDP was 59.2% in 2022, which decreased to 41.8% by the end of 2024. It was also noted that progress had been made in refinancing the Government’s external bond payments without exerting pressure on the economy and budget, and in improving the country’s credit rating. However, the Mongolian National Audit Office highlighted several risk factors and recommended that these issues be carefully addressed.
